The Springs Community was acquired in May 2006 by Cygnet Health Care, a leading provider of independent mental health care(click_here to visit Cygnet's website).

Having treated people with Asperger's Syndrome and autism with concurrent mental health needs, Cygnet is well aware of the lack of appropriate services available when these patients are well enough for discharge. The acquisition of The Springs Community, with its established high quality service, was the ideal opportunity for Cygnet to learn from an experienced and trained staff team with the aim of developing similar Springs services elsewhere in the UK.

What hasn't changed since The Springs Community became part of Cygnet Health Care?

Residents and staff have not been affected by the acquisition. Day to day running of the home has continued as previously under the leadership of the Registered Manager, Elizabeth Scanlan, who has been at The Springs Community for nearly 10 years. Cygnet fully recognises that The Springs Community has earned its reputation as a high quality service because of how the person centred approach has given so many residents the support they need to achieve a level of independence, therefore, enhancing their quality of life and the way it has been managed and staffed. Cygnet will continue to support and learn from The Springs Community.

What has changed since The Springs Community became part of Cygnet Health Care?

A new automated chlorination system has been installed to ensure that the swimming pool is safely maintained to a high standard.

The swimming pool boiler has been replaced, resulting in a heated swimming pool all year round.

The original boilers have now been replaced and a new hot water system has been installed in the main home. A new central heating system has also been installed. Much of the accommodation has already been redecorated and these works continue.
